First Lieutenant Ruben Soliz
First Lieutenant Ruben Soliz Jr. is a native of Kingsville, TX. He graduated from H.M. King High School and enlisted in the Regular Army in June of 1991 as a 91Q, Pharmacy Technician, and was assigned to the 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany from April 1992 to April 1994 serving as the lead tech in Hanau, Friedburg, and Fulda Germany. He PCS to Evans Army Hospital in 1994 and remained there until 1997 as the Inpatient Sterile Products Instructor. After his release from Active duty, he was assigned to the 887th QM Co in Alice Texas, as an 88M, until his ETS in 1999. He graduated from Texas A&M-Kingsville with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology in 2004 and received a commission in the United States Army Reserves. 467th QM BN in 2005 until his first deployment in support of OIF with the 370th Transportation Company from Brownsville in 2006. He served at COB Speicher, Camp Taji, and Camp Liberty Iraq as a Truck Platoon Leader and Transportation Liaison Officer. Upon his redeployment, he was assigned to the 211th Regional Support Group as the HHD Commander. The unit was alerted in 2008 and deployed in support of OIF in 2009, where he served at COB Speicher. He was recently chosen as a Soldier Hero to represent the Army Reserves at the 2010 All American Bowl in San Antonio. 1LT Soliz is currently instructing at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where he serves as the Assistant Professor of Military Science.
1LT Soliz’s military education includes Unit Mobilization Planners Course, Environment Officer Course, Pre-Commander Course, Commander’s Safety Management Course, Officer Basic Course, Sling Load Course, Air Assault Course, and Combatives level 1 course.
1LT Soliz’s awards include Bronze Star medal , ARCOM medal, Army Achievement Medal 4th Award, Army Good conduct Medal 2nd Award, National Defense Medal 2nd award, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War Terrorism Service Medal, Armed forces service ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Reserve Forces Medal with M Device, Air Assault Badge, and Presidential Unit Citation.
