Major David Ramirez

Major David R. Ramirez is a native of Hebbronville, Texas. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Business Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in August 1995. Following graduation, MAJ Ramirez attended the Field Artillery Officers’ Basic Course (FAOBC) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from August 1995 – March 1996. After FAOBC, MAJ Ramirez was assigned to 2nd BN 8th FA 25th Infantry Division Light at Fort Lewis, Washington from March 1996 – July 1999. While assigned to 2-8 FA, MAJ Ramirez was assigned to a number of positions to include Fire Support Officer for A Company 5th BN 20th IN and B Company 1st BN 24th IN, Support Platoon Leader for HHS 2-8 FA, and Operations Officer for 2-8 FA. MAJ Ramirez then attended the Field Artillery Captains Career Course (FACCC) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from July 1999 – December 1999. Upon graduation from FACCC, MAJ Ramirez then attended the Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas from Jan 2000 – Feb 2000. MAJ Ramirez’ next assignment was with the 8th Army Deep Operations Coordination Cell in Yongsan Army Garrison, Seoul, South Korea from March 2000 – March 2001, where he served as a Fire Support Officer. He then returned to Fort Sill, Oklahoma and commanded HHB Personnel Support Battalion from May 2001 – Oct 2002. MAJ Ramirez was then assigned to command San Antonio West Recruiting Company, San Antonio Recruiting Battalion at Fort Sam Houston, Texas from October 2002 – August 2003. MAJ Ramirez then ETSd out of the Army in October 2003 and was then assigned to the 36th ID Texas Army National Guard at Camp Mabry, Texas as a Plans/Operations Officer in the G3 Plans Section from October 2003 – October 2004. MAJ Ramirez was then assigned to the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) from October 2004 – May 2006. In May 2006, MAJ Ramirez was assigned to the 8th Brigade 95th Division (SROTC). While assigned to 8th BDE 95th Div, MAJ Ramirez was activated and deployed for a 14 month deployment to Iraq with 642nd Regional Support Group out of Decatur, Georgia from Jan 2007 – March 2008. While in Iraq, 642nd served under 1st Cavalry Division and 4th Infantry Division. MAJ Ramirez was then assigned to 4th ESC in San Antonio, Texas as a Rear Operations Officer from May 2008 – March 2009. MAJ Ramirez was then re-assigned to the IRR in March 2009 and is currently serving in the IRR.

MAJ Ramirez’ military education includes Airborne School (May 1993), FAOBC (1996), FACCC (1999), and CAS3 (2000).

MAJ Ramirez’ awards include the Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), the Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), the Joint Services Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Parachutist Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Ribbon, the Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
